A lot of sources advocate the virtues of SAF Group Insurance because you are able to cover your insurance needs at a very affordable rate.
However, there are some limitations to the group insurance that will affect the insured and the family compare to non-group insurance policy.
One such limit is the limits of liability for Aviva if the insured Persons are travelling as a group.
In the event of claims arising from any number of Insured Persons while travelling in a single conveyance, the maximum aggregate liability under the Policy for all such Insured Persons taken together, shall be limited to $10,000,000 for each land vehicle, $18,000,000 for each sea vessel and $20,000,000 for each aircraft unless a lower limit is applicable under ( b ) and ( c) below.
So what this means is that if you have 30 Singaporean men travelling on an SIA flight each insured with $1 mil, in the event of an aircraft disaster the payout from Aviva is limited to only $20 mil.
Each Singapore men will likely be apportion with a % based on how much he is insured on.
This was clarified with Aviva
It is then important to realize that while this SAF Group Insurance is affordable, it should not be the be all end all policy.
Supplementing it with other term insurance is advisable. Spread out the risk to a Single Insurance entity.
