500 Apps for your iPhone 3G and iTouch!
This isn’t fully investment or financial planning related but i just can’t help but feel excited about hearing this. Steve Jobs hopes to sell 500 apps on their Apple site and 25% of it will be opensource whereas the rest will cost around $9.90.

I know that most of you will think that having an iPhone is a luxury but i will think that given the right support and a good telco plan, this can have enough impact that Apple can really put a dent into Microsoft. Just like what Tim Bajarin at Creative Strategies highlighted, IBM brought about the computer but it is really when the good softwares comes about that it really became useful.
Similarly, iPhone, with Apples sleek and easy interface design is just missing the right ingredients. We already have numerous web 2.0 and cloud computing apps that combine them and have them on a go will be really good for business users.
What they will have right now:
- A good phone with a good following i.e. a good network
- A device that people can bring about anywhere, even more so than a personal computer.
- A platform that have many business apps that software houses are developing on
- A multi-touch interface that is at the forefront of human-computer interaction
What is my advice:
- Don’t be the first adopter! its gonna cost you a bomb. Look to buy it second hand or what. This is frugality at work.
- check out your data and voice plan. Especially in Singapore, lets hope we have one that you can pay a basic 30 dollars voice and sms plus 15 dollars for 50 gb per month data.
Tell me what you think.
